This Yellowstone to Atlanta blog was originally sent out as separate emails to family members to let them know where we were, what we were doing and give tidbits about our activities. I have copied the original emails and added some pictures for viewing. The trip started in August and ended in October. This is the first of our extended stay trips in the Adventurer.
Please enjoy and feel free to share the link to the blog site with family and friends that might like to read and see the pictures.
Subject: Here we are
Well about 1,500 miles later and we are here. (West Yellowstone, MT)
We started out
on Sat morning and stopped in Quanah, TX at Ye Olde Cotton Gin RV Park. It was not until our second day of traveling did we get out of the State of Texas and really felt like we were on our way.

We crossed the state line at Texline and spent the night at an RV park in Raton Pass, NM on the NM and CO state line. When we registered we were warned to keep all food and trash stored properly because a bear had visited the RV park a couple of nights earlier. We did not see any bears (and for that matter none yet) but we did see an elk and her calf but that is later in the trip.

Found out the next morning I had an issue with the tow package installed on the Terrain and my car battery was dead. My good friend, David, helped me rig the situation until I could get to a Camping World location for repair. As we started out north on I-25 through Colorado, I was calling the three different locations to see if I could get someone to look at it and get it repaired for me.
After a day of phone calls while driving we pulled into the Longmont, CO Camping World location (which was on our way right off of I-25) and spent about three hours getting the situation corrected. Since we were delayed a bit, we decided to stop overnight in Laramie, Wyoming at the Wal-Mart parking lot. And the battery in the car is now getting charged (instead of drained) when we are traveling.

Hello Wyoming - Glad we are here! |
We pulled out of Laramie the next morning and drove west on I-80 for awhile until we got to US 287 (yes the same US 287 in Texas) and then headed north to our next stop. We stopped in Dubois, WY for an overnight stop at Longhorn RV which is a very nice park beside the Wind River. It is very peaceful, scenic and a good restful place. We were visited at supper by a couple of deer, grazing along the river. We met a very nice couple from Minnesota and they gave Beverly some South Dakota tourism information when they found out we will be heading that way in a few weeks.

Unexpected dinner guest in Dubois RV Park |
We left Dubois and passed through Teton and Yellowstone National Parks on our way to West Yellowstone (our destination). This was by far the most scenic part of the trip thus far. The Teton mountains were spectacular and the parks were especially beautiful. During the last part of the drive, we had to stop in the road as an elk and her calf were crossing. Beverly tried to get a picture or two of them as we drove past.

Just a sample of what we saw at every turn in the road! |
We arrived at the Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone, sometime yesterday afternoon meeting our other friends who are here after visiting Glacier National Park the last week or two. The Soules, Alstons and Quinns all shared a BBQ brisket dinner last night just before a rain shower interrupted our after dinner talk. We are tired and will probably not do much today as we rest from the drive.
Woke up this morning to 44 degrees and bright sunshine. Expected to get up to 80 today. (What is the temp in Texas today?) I may be through with shorts for awhile, Beverly says she is for sure, and switching over to jeans. I have decided that we will not drive 5 days straight anywhere again due to tiredness factor. If it had not been for our deadline of meeting the Soules, we definitely would have stopped and visited some places we saw and taken much longer getting here. We will do that coming back because of no impending deadlines.
Hope all are well. We are and having a fabulous time.
